Biography
Commercial Building Surveyor, Rodney Byl is the Managing Director of The Building Approval Company and responsible for all our private building certification services provided throughout South East Asia and the Australasian region. Qualified as a Chartered Surveyor and Building Certifier Level 1 he has the experience to undertake complex Building Certification issues.
His extensive experience in building code analysis and building regulation interpretation has developed from 15 years working as a Building Council Certifier in local and state government and 10 years as a private certifier. Rodney makes it easy for builders, building designers, architects and developers by untangling the red tape so that everything flows smoothly from starting a project to final occupation.
Rodney has been an active member of the Far North QLD branch of the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors (AIBS) and Past President of Western Australia chapter. He is an accredited member of Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
Whilst having approved thousands of houses and sheds, Rodney specialises in medium to high rise development including technical due diligence and fire safety audits, peer review, performance-based design advice and assessment of performance-based fire engineering reports. His expertise includes BCA compliance consulting for all building classifications, disability access audits and consulting and passive fire separation certification.
