The preview of the NCC 2022 changes have been released and we’ve reviewed the details so you don’t have to.
The National Construction Code (NCC) in the building industry updates every two years. NCC 2022 will be implemented as follows:
NCC 2022 will be adopted by states and territories on 1 May 2023.
New livable housing requirements commence 1 October 2023.
New energy efficiency and condensation mitigation requirements commence 1 October 2023.
You can start using the new provisions from 1 October 2022.
The time will be upon us before we know it and there are several items in the new code you will need to prepare for. The most significant changes are to the accessible housing standards and energy efficiency, as well as a new waterproofing standard.
Our team have done a full review of the changes, and have put together a summary of the key things we think you need to know about. We will be running some Q&A sessions at our offices so we can help get you up to speed on the new NCC and answer any questions you may have. Troy Richardson is currently FNQs only SDA Assessor, so it is also a great opportunity to get your accessible and livable housing questions answered.
